Today, I finished this piece of artwork for a very dear friend. This is the actual pose that they were photographed in, though I changed the background. It’s title is “Kitty Totem”. All three of these beautiful furbabies have now crossed the rainbow bridge, with Bear, the top kitty leaving only just over a month ago.
I’ve been thinking about my art a lot while working on this piece, and I’ve realised that I actually really love doing memorial pieces, whether they are portraits, or pawtraits. I love being able to capture the spirit of the loved ones that are no longer with us, and I love seeing people’s responses when they see their loved ones depicted in my art. It’s a strangely powerful feeling when you see the joy that a piece of your work can bring to someone. It’s something that I can’t really explain; you’re just going to have to trust me.
This Kitty Totem will be winging it’s way to ‘sunny’ Ohio in the next few weeks. 🙂
